Dear Friends,

Because you are already a BREATHE parent, I'd like to invite you to the replay of BREATHE: The Journey Continues, an online retreat for parents of children with mental illness. This will be a chance to go deeper into the experiences and needs of parents like you who have children with serious mental illness. You’ve lived it, you’re living it now, and as you continue to face the twists and turns in this journey, it’s likely you’re left with seemingly unanswerable questions and untenable decisions about your loved one’s care, as well as your own ability to survive the challenges.

This online retreat will feature Dr. Robin Kissell, Professor of Psychiatry at the UCLA Geffen School of Medicine and the Director of the Mentalizing Initiative with a panel of parents who have “been there, done that,” a message of spiritual encouragement from me, and a very special conversation with Dr. Dan Allender of the Allender Center at The Seattle School of Theology and Psychology in Seattle, WA. Dr. Allender co-founded The Allender Center, a ground-breaking organization committed to boldly engaging the impact of trauma and abuse on the human heart. He has pioneered a unique and innovative approach to trauma and abuse recovery. Join us for a gut-level conversation on how loving a child with a serious mental illness affects our souls, bodies, work, and relationships. Dr. Allender is a deep well of wisdom and has much to say about how we can commune with God, engage our stories and live with trauma that doesn’t go away.

I hope you join me online for a replay of BREATHE: The Journey Continues, Sunday, August 7, 2022 from 2:00pm – 5:00pm PT as we share the reality of the struggle, grieve together, and point each other toward hope.

Warmly,

Kay Warren

Late 2020, Anne and her husband, Dan, relocated from Orange County to Las Vegas, Nevada, moving closer to three of her six grandchildren.
